Veranda Inspect, the Android app ยท Last updated: 5 November 2026
In short: no account, no ads and no tracking. Your homes, inspections, photos and signatures stay on your phone. They leave it only when you share a document yourself, or send your tenant a signing link, which is encrypted on your phone first and deleted after 30 days.
Who we are
Veranda Inspect is an app for rental inspections, part of Veranda (verandadesk.com) and published on Google Play by Kindly Made. This policy explains how the app handles personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). For Veranda's website and its demo form, see Veranda's privacy notice.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put in the app: your details, your properties, your tenants' names and contact details, the inspections with their ratings, notes, photos and signatures, rent receipts, and the PDFs the app makes. We have no copy of any of it. There is no account and no server holding your data.
The app asks for no ID numbers. Every photo has its date and time drawn on it, and the app records no location.
When something leaves your phone
- When you share it. If you email, WhatsApp, save or print a report, receipt or letter, it goes where you send it, through the app you choose.
- When you send a signing link. The report is encrypted on your phone before it is uploaded to our signing service (sign.verandadesk.com). The key is only in the link you send, so the service can't read the report, and neither can we. Your tenant's signature comes back encrypted the same way. Everything for that link is deleted after 30 days, or sooner when you cancel it.
- Android's own backup. If backup is on in your phone's settings, Android keeps the app's list of properties and inspections in your Google account, as it does for other apps. Photos and PDFs aren't included.
- A backup file. If you save one, it holds everything, photos included, wherever you choose to save it.
Premium and Google Play
Premium is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy; the app only learns whether Premium is active on your Google account.
What the app may ask to use
- Camera: for the inspection photos, only while you take them.
- Notifications: for the deadline reminders, if you turn them on.
- Internet: only for the signing link and Google Play.
- Starting after a restart: so your reminders keep their dates.
The app has no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting, and shares nothing with advertisers.
Your tenants' information
When you record a tenant's name, contact details, signature and photos of the home, you are the "responsible party" for that information under POPIA. Keep only what the inspection needs, and give your tenant a copy of the signed report. Before signing, the app shows your tenant the consent line: that the report and its photos are kept as the record of the inspection.
Tenants who sign through a link
The page you open from a signing link shows the report your landlord sent, and sends back your signature and any note you add, encrypted. The signing service keeps no record of who you are beyond what you type, and deletes everything for that link after 30 days. Cloudflare, which hosts the service, sees connection details such as your IP address, as any website host does.
Children
Veranda Inspect is for adults who rent out or rent a home. It isn't meant for children.
Your rights
Because your information is on your phone, you can see, change or delete it there at any time; uninstalling the app deletes it from the phone. For a signing link, cancel it in the app to delete it from the signing service. If you have a question or a complaint, email us at hi@verandadesk.com. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and its date.
